Builder's Dry Wall Window

Sash Removal

  1. Remove boftom sash as you would a normal tilt in window sash.
  2. Remove fixed top sash.
    1. Take off all the four (4) interior glazing beads using appropriate tools and remove insulated glass unit. *Note: Be extremely careful to hold the insulated glass unit since it is not permanently glazed in place and may fall out accidentally.
    2. Remove four (4) screws that are now visible and unfasten the meeting/keeper rail from the side jambs.
    3. Push one side of the meeting/keeper rail up about 5 inches and remove the entire rail from frame.
  3. Move dry wall materials in through opening taking care not to damage window frame.

Sash Reinstallation

  1. Reinstall meeting/keeper rail in reverse fashion to step 2-c and reinstall four (4) screws to attach meeting/keeper rail to side jambs.
  2. Peel off the protective film on the glazing tape and place along the four (4) edges of the exterior faces of the insulated glass unit.
  3. Place insulated glass unit in top sash frame and clip in the four (4) glazing beads.
  4. Reinstall bottom sash as you would a normal tilt in sash. Remove this sticker when entire job is complete.
