Crystal Series 8000 Windows Offer New Frame Option
Aw-Rated Window Line Available with Face Flange Frame
Crystal
Window & Door Systems has unveiled a new frame option for its high-end
Series 8000 aluminum projected window series. In addition to the standard
frame, the four (4) styles of the Architecturally-Rated Series 8000
windows are all optionally available with a 2" face flange installation
fin. The project-in model of the Series 8000 line also is available
with a 2-½" flange frame. The face flange (also known as a casement
fin) greatly speeds window replacements and eliminates the need for
exterior capping or panning in many cases.
The face flange installation fin option is a particularly useful feature when replacing existing narrow-frame steel or aluminum casement and projected windows that were originally installed directly into the masonry of a building opening. To typically replace such windows, the sashes are removed and the frame cut back as much as possible without disturbing the masonry. When a replacement window is installed, additional steps such as blocking out the frame, capping, and/or panning are usually needed to accommodate the old frame left in place. A face flange casement fin simplifies these installations. The exterior face flange, or casement fin, of the new Crystal Series 8000 is used to cover the old cut down steel window main frame that is left in place. The Crystal window 2" or 2-½" face flange features a series of pre-scored cut lines to facilitate the field trimming of the flange to the exact size required by each window opening.
The Crystal Series 8000 windows are available as casement, project-in (hopper), project-out (awning) and fixed/picture models with AAMA AW-ratings of 70 to 85. These windows feature a 2-¼ " deep frame made from heavy-duty 0.125" thick quality aluminum extrusions. One inch insulating glass with the proprietary PPG Intercept warm edge spacer system is standard. As with all Crystal architectural windows, a full range of colors and finishes including anodized and fluoropolymer are available. The Series 8000 windows are well-suited for a wide variety of applications: office buildings, historic rehabilitations, high-rise apartment houses, academic buildings, and hospital and healthcare facility projects.
